The calm before the storm
I'm mostly done packing the boring stuff (clothes), but still need to pack the essential stuff (knitting and crochet). I've got a standard packing checklist that helps me to get the right amount of everything into my suitcase and carry on bag. My list includes things like, "fountain pen -- filled."
In about two hours Leslie will arrive in Owen Sound and the adventure will begin. After brunch at The Falls Inn at Walter's Falls we'll head to Toronto and start our journey of YYZ to LHR to BUD. A direct flight didn't seem to exist, so we're bouncing our way through London. It's a bank holiday and Matthew has threatened to meet us at the airport.
This time my world tour has me bouncing over to Szeged, Hungary for DrupalCon. I'll be there for a week (and am planning to attend at least the first bit of the Documentation Code Sprint on the Sunday). I'm leading three workshops:
- Open for (small) business
- Crafty Drupal
- Drupal Front End - the book (co-presented with Konstantin)
Then on the way back I'm turning my bounce into one of those "vacation" things that all the cool kids keep talking about. The first part of the week will be spent working remotely (and I do have a very long shopping list of things that need to get done), and then I'm headed up to Hay-On-Wye for the weekend. Back in Owen Sound I'll hit the ground running again with new clients and two more chapters to finish up for my October 1 deadline (assuming I get one finished while I'm away, otherwise I'll have three to finish on my return).
In the mean time... if you live in Grey and Bruce be sure to pick up a copy of Grey Bruce Woman. It's written by the fabulous Claudia Staines and published by my excellent HICK Tech sponsor, The Owen Sound Sun Times. It looks like this:
And inside it profiles twenty seven outstanding women including me:

Very nice. You're now officially an outstanding woman!
Good luck on your trip also.
Have a great trip, you outstanding woman, you!
Hay-on-Wye sounds like a sandwich with a speech impediment. But I bet it is very tasty and very pretty nevertheless... ;)
