Hello my name is...
Hopping onto the "What's its name" band wagon started on Planet Ubuntu (well, more specifically by effie_jayx), here the names of my computers:
- Bilbo (VPS server)
- Gollum (laptop and primary work machine)
- Smeagol (previous laptop and backup machine)
And for good measure I've also got a history of naming my cars:
- Beowulf (current Golf VW)
- Grendel (previous Golf VW)
Obviously my next computer will be Frodo, and after that I'll need to find a new string of names to use. Although Beowulf is brand new my next car might buck the trend and go for the female name of Selma.
My bicycles have been mostly unnamed, although the last bike I had was The Ratbastard. It was red (my own spray paint job!) and had a "ratbastard" sticker from a Web site that has long since closed up. My current orange and blue Guru hasn't got enough miles to have earned itself a name.
PS And my router is called, "the_zoo." So named because of the cat, guinea pig and French angora rabbit that live with me in my home office.

Don't they call a Golf a
Don't they call a Golf a Rabbit in North America?
My computer is always named
My computer is always named princess. ;)
The commuter bike is "The Stude" (short for Studebaker); the race bike used to be called Mr Potatohead, but needs a better name now that it's The Race Bike; and the new mt bike's interim name of "Ohh Baby" seems to be sticking.
Interesting. I started
Interesting. I started naming my computers with names beginning with A. First was angela (my own middle name), then aphra (homage to the first professional woman writer), agnes (a dear departed aunt), aida ( a dear friend), agatha (favourite mystery writer), amanda (agatha's second drive and I have run out of real people), and finally, so far, abigail.
My laptop is called
My laptop is called "ubuntu-laptop" (it's more descriptive than all of your names!).
Um, don't have anything else that requires mandatory naming, so they're just my items.
:)

Ubuntu just copied it to their Planet, as usual.
